Community Radio Returns
The Mayor of Tamworth is just one of a number of local people to put their name to the campaign to save the town’s community radio.
The first citizen, Cllr John Chesworth, joined Tamworth Borough Council cabinet member Cllr Joy Goodall and a whole host of volunteers and local business people who want to keep the local radio station on air.
The Mayor said: “I’m fully supportive of the push to get Community Radio up and running again in Tamworth.”
Cllr Chesworth also hinted that he wants his own radio show on the new radio station.
Local performer Alex Farrell, who used to be a presenter in Tamworth and now produces the Paul Ross Breakfast Show on talkRADIO, is leading the charge to save the local radio station.
He said: “We are overwhelmed with the support we have received so far, but there’s still a long way to go.
“We are looking to relaunch the new sound of the radio station in a few weeks, but we still need local businesses to come on board and invest, as well as daytime presenters who are willing to do live or pre-recorded shows.
“You don’t necessarily need prior radio experience, just a passion for Tamworth and a willingness to learn new skills.

The Mayor of Tamworth added: “It’s great that we’ve had local radio for local people over the last eight years, and I think it’s really important that it continues.
“I’m looking forward to it being back on the airwaves soon.”
